Post 21 Club: Who Are We?
  • We are a Bergen County parent group whose children live with Autistic Spectrum
    Disorder.
  • The creators of a practical and achievable system for adults with autism in Bergen County
which will provide its clients a comprehensive range of appropriate supports and services
once their school entitlement ends at age 21.
  • A 501c3 nonprofit organization

What Makes Us Unique?
  • We understand the varied needs of the autistic population from childhood to adulthood,
and the needs of their family members.
  • We fill gaps in service by creating needed ones that don’t exist due to insufficient state
    funding
  • Instead of parents/guardians and clients having to shuttle between disconnected agency
offices, we offer a “one-stop-shop” to plan for life after graduation from Special
    Education

The Post 21 Friendship House - Our "Hub with Spokes"
We collaborate with NJ service providers.  Our system pulls together existing Service
Providers to benefit from their pre-existing systems and programs to create a seamless
whole for our Clients, and also avoids "re-inventing the wheel".

Our collaborative allies are the Friendship House in Hackensack, Lifespire NJ in Livingston,
and Bergen County Special Services; together we form our "Hub" home base.  Our Client
population can come to the home base every day, or be transported to appropriate job
placement in the Community (our "Spokes") with a job coach supervisor.

The adult Autism population is expanding at an alarming rate.  To meet this challenge we have
created a support system which unifies and builds upon special services facilities that already
exist in the Community.    The
Hub with Spokes structure is thus a workable model which can
be replicated by other groups in communities throughout New Jersey.

Our Vision
We shall provide a rich, Total Environment including Day Programs, Job Coaching, Therapies,
Recreation/Entertainment, Life Skills, Continuing Education, and Residential Services, so that
our children living with Autism can not only survive, but thrive and become colorful
contributors to our society.  For more on our Vision (our Alternate Vision) please click
